Sovtys N. Ukrainian lexical borrowings in the Polish litarary language

Ukrainian lexical borrowings have been analysed in the Polish literary language in the second half of the eighteenth and in the end of the twentieth century. Our aim is to reveal ukrainisms that function in the Polish literary language of the period under consideration, to disclose the peculiarities of their adaptation, and also to learn the ways of ukrainisms’ penetration to Polish. The methods are the following: descriptive, comparative, structural-typological, and also statistical. The novelty is that it is the first complex investigation of Ukrainian lexical borrowings in the Polish literary language. The thesis about Ukrainian influence on the coming-to-be and development of Polish vocabulary of the period under discussion got further development in the dissertation. The sphere of usage is philology.
