Object of the research: processes of development of the population social protection; Objective of the research: to clear up the conceptual approach to definite context and structure of the population social protection; Methods of the research: general scientific, quantitative and qualitative sociological methods; Theoretical and practical results: the conceptual basis for the further theoretical studying problems of the social protection, the conceptual apparatus needed for the forming of scientifically proved recommendations for perfection of the system of management of the population social protection in the condition of market transformation of the Ukrainian society; The novelty: the authorized definite of understanding "social protection" and "social sphere" for the first time has been made; the authorized structure-activity model of system of the population social protection for the first time has been made; The level of the application: the results have been applied in studying courses of sociology and of sociology of the social sphere for students of Dnipropetrovsk National University.
