Thesis highlights the problem of increasing of students' cognitive activity in the process of studying of general pedagogical disciplines. The components and the content of general pedagogical future teachers' training have been specified, the corresponding studying programs and curriculum have been analyzed. The theoretical model which comprises the complex of criteria, indices and levels of evaluating of students' cognitive activity. It has been experimentally proved that traditional bases of organization of the educational process, due to which the future teachers' general pedagogical training is taking place, are not very effective as for the students' cognitive activity. The basis of the forming experiment is the conceptual idea that the increasing of students' cognitive activity will take place under the following circumstances: professional direction of all kinds of students' activities; combination of external (pedagogical) stimuli with internal (personal) motivation of studying activity as theway of professional improvement and personal development; instillation of creative professional tasks, which are based on cognitive activity, in different forms of students' education.
