Object of research: the population as a subject of reproduction of a society; Objective of the research: a substantiation of theoretical - methodological approaches to studying social aspects of the population's reproduction and a definition of tendencies of its development; Methods of the research: sociological questioning, general scientific, quantitative (statistical); Theoretical and practical results: the conceptual basis's for the further sociological research of of the population's reproduction, the necessities of orientation of demographic and social politics of Ukraine with recording of regional specificity of reproduction of the population are accented; The novelty: the sociological opinions about relations between the society's development and the population's reproduction are classified, the bases are values and identities as a latent social mechanisms of population's reproduction are allocated, the relation between realization of vital potential and dynamics of regional systems of reproduction are providing; The level of the application: the results have been applied in studying courses of sociology of territorial social communities and the bases of a demography for students Mechnikov Odessa National University.
