Ptytula N. Creating the initial material for breeding Winter hard wheat by interspesitic hibridization

Subject: Winter durum wheat breeding. Aim: to develop original material of winter durum wheat with higher adaptive properties, high yielding capacity and grain yield in the conditions of the Steppe of Ukraine. Methods: interspecific hybridization, selection, discriminant analysis, protein electroforesis, mathematical statistics. Novelty: firstly there was used and approved the discriminant analysis method effectiveness for the classification of interspecific hybrids according to their genetical distance from the parental forms. By means of protein electrophoretic method there was confirmed interspecific origin of hybrids and there were elaborated their genetical formulae as glutenin-coding loci. Results: a new original material has been developed for breeding winter durum and bread wheats for productivity, grain quality and adaptability. Utilization stage: 11 lines have been inculcated into dreeding practice by 3 scientific establishment. Application area: plant breeding. Agroindustrial complex of Ukraine.
