The dissertation is devoted to historico-sociological analysis of the concept of historical system in the world-system analysis. It explicates the essence, basic theoretical statements, ideas, concepts, and methodological principles of world-system approach to the study of historical systems. The formation, development and current situation of the world-system perspective are analyzed and its future prospects as well as its impact on the modern social theory are assessed.
