The dissertation analyzes the sociological theories that interprets the phenomenon of "industrial society" and "industrial culture" as а: a) technologically determined (by production, economics, by the condition of material culture); b) fragmented aspects of"industrial", "capitalist", "modern", "post-industrial" / "postmodern" globalized societies. Therefore, proposes the synthetic comprehension of the functional status of culture, taking into account of the latest trends of sociological theory development. This research is devoted to solving the problem of contradiction between the fragmentary descriptive character of the conceptual ideas, that regards the determination view on the place, social role and functions of culture in classical and non-classical sociological theories of industrial society, and new specialized systems of sociological knowledge, aimed at identifying of functional status and various ontological manifestations of functional orientation of culture in industrial type of societies.
