Essay

The thesis is devoted to issues of con-struction of application-specific processor for light and shadow effects image synthesis devices in visualization systems of vehi-cle simulators. The mathematical model of image synthesis of arbitrary-oriented light sources is offered, which takes into account disper-sion effects in an atmosphere. Use of model allows to fill a scene with light effects, and as consequence, to increase visual per-ception of the synthesized image. The method of the classification description of shadow space and on its basis an image synthesis algorithm of the shadows formed by a relief is proposed. Use of a method allows the fol-lowing benefits: ability to synthesize images of shadows from a relief both on a relief, and on objects of a scene; reduction of total amount of calculations at real time due to fulfill-ment of a part of image synthesis calculations at a preparation stage, which, in turn, allows to increase performance of visualization system. The problem of "cap-ture" of light sources is considered. The offered decision allows to remove the alias-ing phe-nomenon at the stage of image synthe-sis of light sources. The problem of scanning of moving objects is considered. The offered decision allows to synthesize in real time the images of shadows from moving objects on a relief, on the other objects and on them-selves. The results of the research were used at modernization of digital visualization system at flight simulator KTS TU-154М in UG USCGA, Kiev.
