katan O. Conceptional and political-practical foundations of solving the gender problem in Ukraine.

Dissertation studies the main trends in female policy persued in Ukraine, the obstacles in the way to its solving, and the prospects for overcoming them. The state of Ukrainian theoretical and political thought on gender problem is analised and its connection with the worldwide thought, that strengthened itself at the last stage of feminist movement, is ascertained. The level of gender susceptibility of political parties, organs of authorities and local selfgovernment is determined, and opportunities for women to participate in deciding problems actual for them is cleared up. The Ukrainian law for the purposes of its conformity to gender criterions, prescribed by international law, is analised. The socio-economic status of women is characterized. The special consideration was given to the work of non-government organizations as a factor of women's activity in defending their equality. Propositions concerning the concrete practical measures turned to overcoming the factual inequality of women in Ukraineare put forward.
