The thesis concentrates on the evolution of anti-utopia in Russian prose of 1980 - 2000 (V. Voynovich, T. Tolstaya, O. Kabakov, E. Li-monov, L. Petrushevskaya, A. Kurchatkin, M. Veller, V. Pelevin). In thesis the theoretical definition of the term "anti-utopia" has been specified; the core of the genre and artistic leitmotifs have been determined. The main types of anti-utopia (novel, story, tale) as well as their peculiarities (artistic design and prognosis, evolution of the hero, conflict, artistic time and space, language, style) have been studied. The traditional and new charac-teristics of Russian anti-utopia of the end of XX - beginning of XXI c. have been noted. Anti-utopia has been investigated in the context of main tendencies of modern literary process.
