Vasyuta S. Agrobiological evaluation of clonal rootstocks for myrobalan plum and propagation of it under the conditions of the Northern Part of the Ukraine's Right Bank Lisosteppe

Objects of the researches - are 19 myrobalan plum clonal rootstocks of the inland and foreign breeding as well as 3 its cultivars: Kubans'ka kometa, Putyeshyestvyennitsa and Naidyona. Purpose is study, selection of the best clonal rootstocks for myrobalan plum which possess high multiplication ratio, root system frost resistance, immunity, high compatibility with the registered and perspective myrobalan plum cvs and high capability in the nursery and introduction of those rootstocks into production in the northern part of the Ukraine's Right Bank Lisosteppe. Methods. The investigations have been carried out in the form of field, laboratory-field and laboratory experiments with the application of agronomic, physiological and economic methods and statistical methods of processing the achieved results. Novelty. A group of clonal rootstocks for myrobalan plum has been selected no the basis of multi-year researches in a parental-cutting garden and fruit nursery. Those rootstocks exceed considerably as to the complex of values those which are used in production today. The estimation of the rootstocks has been carried out concerning their growth, frost-resistance and development of the root system. The peculiarities of their propagation by means of soft-wood cuttings have been studied. For the first time in the zone of the investigations the author has used the wasteless technology of growing planting stock for myrobalan plum and approbated the way of its cultivars propagation by means of hard-wood cuttings. The economic and energy efficiency of growing myrobalan plum one -year planting trees on clonal rootstocks has been determined. Theoretical and practical results. A group of promise clonal rootstocks for myrobalan plum (SVG 11-19, VVA-1, VSV-1, Euroasia-43, Vyesyennyeye plamya and Fibing's Seedling) has been singled out according to signs valuable for economy. The usage of them in the nursery practice will make it possible to increase significantly the planting trees quality and yield. The results of the researches have been introduced in the Experimental Farm "Novosilky" of the Institute of Horticulture of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian sciences (IH UAAS), Krasnokuts'k Research Center of IH UAAS and Open Association "Nasinnyeve" of the Kharkiv region. Besides those results are utilized in the research work and specialized horticultural farms of Ukraine. Branch is agriculture.
