Bryn T. Ars nova: The Measurement and the Rationalization of Music’ Space-Time.

The dissertation studies a problem of measurement of Space-Time relationship in music in Ars Nova epoch based on music theoretical treatises, music works of Philippe de Vitry, Guillaume de Machaut, composers of ars subtilior and others. The task of the research is to determine the main coordinates of music time and space, and also the vectors of determination of interrelations and interactions of notional-categorical aspects of space-time in science and art of 14th century. The phenomenon of space-time of the Medieval Ages is considered from a position of changes in public conscience and in the artistic priorities. This work offers the idea of total calculation of artistic time-space by measure and proportion as the basis of formation of multiplicity of constructions and the main principle of music form as the process and the self-sufficient entity. The main principles of proportionality are determined on the base of motets, lyrical compositions and Notre-Dame Mass.
