Rossikhin V. Penitentiary system of Russian Empire in the 19th - beginning of 20th centuries (on materials of Ukrainian provinces).

The author investigates the process of development and legal regulation of penitentiary system of Russian Empire and its realization in Ukrainian provinces in the 19th - beginning of 20th centuries. The quality of centralized management of penitentiary system, appearing of which is connected with bourgeois reforms of the second half of the 19th century, is defined. Major attention is paid to systematization of imperial experience in penitentiary field. The dissertation shows main types of penitentiary institutions of Russian Empire, the in-depth characteristic of central and local bodies of penitentiary system administration is given, the legal state of Russian Empire penitentiary system workers and legal state, regime and conditions of prisoners life are researched. The author gives his conclusions concerning the researched issues.
