The thesis is dedicated to the problems on the formation of competitive ability as a component of strategic stability of an enterprise on the basis of business development. Definitions on the determination of the enterprise’s competitive ability are analyzed. The definition and contents of enterprise potential are given. The methodical approaches to the definition of enterprise potential with competitive ability of the enterprise on the basis of quantitative evaluation of components are developed. The methodical system of calculation of enterprise potential which takes into account factors of influencing on it, and enables to define further strategy of enterprise development is worked up. The definition of competitive ability of the enterprise on the basis of price parameters use and approach to selection of development strategies of enterprise with usage of a strategic type of the enterprise, which is determined on the basis of the enterprise potential and competitive ability at the given stage ofthe enterprise’s development.
