Essay

The dissertation is the first research dedicated to the concept "mirror play" in the romantic and postmodern discourse. The concept "mirror play" is used as an analytical tool for innovative interpretation of the novels "Frankenstein" by M. Shelley and "Das Рarfum" by Р.Suskind. The research focuses on the interactive organization and specific realization of the mirror play with cultural heritage between the players (the author of the novel and its reader) in the mentioned novels. The author of the dissertation explores and defines the possible scenario and the roles of the M.Shelley and Р.Suskind and the readers of "Frankenstein" and "Das Рarfum". The researcher draws the conclusion that the romantic mirror mechanism, based on duplication, complete opposition, delusiveness, extensibility, was changed. The postmodern literary mirror play constructs a multi-level structure rather like a mirror funhouse for a reader to ramble. The mirror play is observed in the content, the system of the characters, plot, composition, style, genre, narration, literary onomastics of "Frankenstein" by M.Shelley and "Das Рarfum" by Р.Suskind.
