The dissertation is dedicated to scientific aspects of methods for students' creative activity at pedagogical universities in the process of training to play on musical instruments. Some points are made on such problems as "activity of creative work", content and structure of creative activity and it's main stages; familiarizing the future music teachers to elementary composer activity is offered, integnity of the developed method is provided with students, the main aspects are made with the matter of principle; classification of higher educations institutions are made according to the degree and to the main character of active creative work.
