Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of manifold scientific and music-creative activity of Wasyl Wytwycky (1905-1999), Ukrainian musicologist and composer, well known in the West. Wasyl Wytwycky was born October 14, 1905 in Kolomiya, Western Ukraine. After completing his high school education he had enrolled in King Yagello University of Krakow, graduating in 1929 completing his doctoral thesis and gaining a PhD degree in a field of musicology (1932).Among his first studies were "Ukrainian influences in Chopin's creations", "Musical life of Galicia", "For new roads of our music life", "Mykola Lysenko and his influence on music life of Galicia".
