Object of research: process of formation and functioning of the market of seeds of grain grains of cultures in Ukraine. Purpose of research: a substantiation of principles and the basic directions of formation of the market of seeds of grain grains of cultures and ways of adaptation of branch of seed-growing to work in market conditions. Methods: abstract-logic, monographic, experimental, statistical groupings; statistical-economic, graphic, settlement-constructive, the system and comparative analysis. Theoretical and practical results: theoretical value consists in enrichment of a rural economics and agrarian and industrial complex new knowledge concerning theoretical, methodical and economic-organizational actions on formation and functioning of the market of seeds of grain grains of cultures; practical recommendations and offers can be a basis for formation of more perfect market of seeds of grain crops in Ukraine, will affect increase of efficiency seed-growing areas in the country and in Zhitomirarea. Scientific novelty: for the first time the problem of formation and functioning of the market of seeds of grain grains of cultures during market transformation of agrarian sector is in a complex investigated, the mechanism of functioning of the aggregate market of seeds and its submarkets in particular is opened; the basic directions of increase of efficiency of seed-growing by market adaptation of existing system, improvement of an infrastructure of the market and methodology of pricing are proved; tendencies of changes which took place during becoming an infrastructure of the market of seeds of grain grains of cultures are specified and factors which will assist acceleration of formation of the market are certain; the economic mechanism of interaction of manufacturers of seeds by creation organizational structures-legal (associations) for effective functioning the regional market of seeds of grain grains of cultures is specified; definition and interpretation of tendencies and features of formation ofdemand, the offer and price conjuncture in the seed market of grain grains of cultures have got development. Degree of introduction: results of researches are used by Zhitomir Central administrative board of agroindustrial development by development of the program " Seed-growing of agricultural crops of Zhitomir area on 2006-2010 ", the received results on expenses and their structure for manufacture and processing of seeds-Ukrainian scientific research institute of productivity of agrarian and industrial complex, pilot farms of Institute of an agriculture of Polesye. Efficiency: results of researches prove the concept of increase of efficiency of functioning of the market of seeds on the basis of realization of technological and organizational-economic actions.
