Essay

Ph.D. of languages and literature thesis is devoted to the analysis of the binomial collisions of modernism and avant-gardism, determination of their combined foundation ("philosophy of life") and distinguished characteristics by the example of the works of Lesya Ukrainka, M. Semenko, B-I. Antonych, comprehension of specificity of neo-romanticism, futurism and surrealism. It is the first attempt to reveal the immanent essence of main directions and corresponding styles, to surmount the practice of substitution of these concepts, to find out the way of their adequate understanding and interpretation, careful perusal of texts without using unequal schemes. It is specified the primordial semantic characteristics of modernism and avant-gardism, that consist in actualization of antithetical principles of construction and destruction, forming out the poetical space and chaos that call forth the difference of missions of these literary and artistic systems. It is specified the conformity of the neo-romanticism style - modernism, futurism style - avant-gardism, it is followed the ability of some styles, as surrealism to "drift" from one style to another.
