Essay

The dissertation deals with a study of pathogenetic aspects of neuropathies in rats of diverse age, induced with mercury bichloride (corrosive sublimate). The highest capacity of the kidneys to regulate osmotic homeostasis has been established in a group of young sexually mature animals, whereas the lowest one has been detected in the rats of an older year class in connection with a diminution of the renal functional reserve and a change of the tubular reabsorption of water and osmotically active substances. It has been proved that the kidneys of young pubertal rats are most sensitive to toxic exposure of mercury dichloride, resulting in a decrease of creatinine clearance, an enhancement of proteinuria and phosphaturia, whereas the sensitivity of the kidneys of nonpubertal rats is considerably lower.
