Essay

The dissertation deals with the development of complex, conceptual approach to the study of regional differences in historical identities and their impact on political orientations in Ukraine. Author argues for a need for introduction of a new concept of "historical identity" and makes its theoretical interpretation. A theoretical and methodological scheme of its measuring is conceptualized. A special focus is made on the explanation of shaping and reproduction of historical identity on macro-, meso- and microlevels in diachronic dimension, where macro-level is represented by the official models of past constructed and replicated by speeches of the President of Ukraine, meso-level - by the regional media-discourses and micro-level - by personal opionions on what are the most significant elemets of historical past, represented by holidays, historical personalities and historical events.
