Stasyk N. Epical-stylistic dominants prosaic works by U.Samchuk

The thesis is dedicated to the vital problem of the complex research of U. Samchuk's works in the context of the Ukrainian literature's development of the 20-th century. A scientific novelty of the thesis is in attempt to interpret writer's works in a quite a new way and in a deep reveal of their main features. In the first part which is called "The history and the Theory of the Question" some scientific fundamentals of the thesis are worked out and the substance of the term "poetics" and the style is considered. The problem of interpretation of writer's works is revealed in the Ukrainian diasporas and continental literary studies. In the second past which is called "Epicness as the eminent stylistic feature of the U.Samchuk's novels" the development of the term "epicness" in the literary studies and its interpretation by the authors is analyzed and on the basis of that the brightest features of genre nature of the writer's epic works are characterized. The peculiarity of the creation of the epic modelby the prose-writer is revealed as well. It is indicated, that the writer's appeal to the national mentality has shown the distinguishing characteristic of his stylistic manner-inclination to the representation of the majestic, scale canvases. It is indicated that all the prose-writer's works are inherented in epic scale of the literary conceptation. U.Samchuk aspires to achieve epicness by different means: by philosophical and political digressions, dialogues, monologues, which characters think over the people's fate, wide social generalization of the past of a town, village or farmstead, by the peculiarities of the chronotop, by the syntactic structure of the sentences and the complex syntactic constructions. In the third part which is called "Chronotopical peculiarities of U.Samchuk's trilogy "The East" is indicated that the analysis of the penctions of time and space (of chronotop) allowed to insert some closer definitions and additions in the interpretations of his works. It is indicated as well that thecategory of time in analysed works becomes not only stylistic but also semantical factor. Semantics of the spatial square of chronotop in works, written by U.Samchuk, is closely connected with semantics of toposes of a threshold, farenstead, saloon, darkness and with the realization of the motive of a road in his literary space, which is mostly used metaphorically in the meaning of human life.
