Chetverikova L. Social State: Structural and Functional Analysis.

The historical process of development of the social state phenomenon from the medieval times to the present is analyzed in the thesis. It has been found that in the course of history, two types of social state have evolved - liberal and social democratic. Basing on the results and achievements of foreign and national experts in this field and taking into account current practices of social states, a new modern conception of social state is forming. The definition of social state has been refined, its features, principles and functions have been described. The structure of social state has been defined and substantiated, and its components analyzed. As a model of social state for Ukraine, so-called mixed model was suggested.
