Fedorovich A. Diagnostic and prognostic value of nitric oxide system in surgical treatment of different forms of acute pancreatitis

The performed studies demonstrated expediency of using the index of the state of the nitrogen oxide system in the surgical practice in order to supplement the programme for diagnosing and prognosticating the course of acute pancreatitis. For the first time, the level of correlation was determined between the index of the state of the nitrogen oxide system and the extent of morphologic changes in the pancreatic tissue of experimental animals, the content of lipid peroxidation products and the antioxidant system factors. Peculiarities of the effect produced by the nitrogen oxide synthase inhibitor on the expression rate of morphologic changes in the pancreatic tissue and the state of the prooxidant-antioxidant relationship in rats were experimentally studied. Dynamics in the expression of the nitrogen oxide system in patients with acute pancreatitis depending upon the phase and severity of the course of acute pancreatitis was studied for the first time. Criteria for practical surgical use of the index ofthe state of the nitrogen oxide system were established in order to diagnose and prognosticate the course of the disease, results of its use in the surgical treatment of patents with acute pancreatitis were analysed.
