A solution of the scientific and technical problem, connected with determining the regularities of interaction of metal under deformation with technological instrument: mandrel (piercing, short and long mandrel for the lengthwise rolling), round roll passes, tilter’s rollers was developed. The relationships for calculation of the critical pressure initiating the plastic flow of the layers of the plug nose adjoining the contact were obtained on the base of the mentioned solution; the criterion determining the limiting conditions of the mandrel work capacity was developed, the analysis of conditions of tangential stability of while rolling was carried-out. An algorithm was developed for calculating the thickness of the lubricant layer between the internal surface of the tube and mandrels (short and long). The area of applicability of this technology is manufacturing hot-rolled tubes.
