Essay

The dissertation's subject matter is complex synchronic-diachronic exploration of the semantic microfields of Polish nouns signifying joy, sorrow and fear. Semantic-structural features of their constituents have been found, and the latter have been differentiated into the nuclear and peripheral zones. The author has also established their derivational potential and elucidated peculiarities of linguistic conceptualization of emotion names. Patterns of semantic evolution of these words have been reconstructed by her, models of their formal and meaningful development have been traced.
