Sorokina G. Geo-sights of Lugansk region: their rational use and protection

The dissertation deals with the analysis of the unique geo-sights of Lugansk region and the determination of their scientific value as standards of natural phenomena and objects of cognitive activity. The theoretical and methodical aspects of the analysis of geo-sights as objects of scientific tourism have been worked out. The author has worked out a classification of geo-sights of the region. Using the method of systemic examination and comparative evaluation of geo-sights the applicant discriminates between 93 geo-sights. Each of them is recommended to have a nature-conservative status. The directions of use of geo-sights have been worked out. The levels of scientific and cognitive tourism have been determined. The author offers 27 routes for excursions. The ecological condition of geo-sights has been analyzed. The features that influence the level of their integrity have been revealed. The author has worked out a classification based on these features and introduced the scale of objects according tothe level of their pollution. The measures aimed at the protection of these objects have been suggested.
