Balziy J. Legal status of city mayor in Ukraine

The dissertation is devoted to the research of the theoretical and practical problems of legal of city mayor. The concept of legal status of city mayor is formulated, a place and role of city mayor is described in the system of local self-government of Ukraine. The basic stages of becoming and development of legal status of city mayor are analysed. Correlation of legal status of city mayor is given with other organs of local self-government, and also with individual public authorities, on the basis of the criteria offered an author. The national legislation which determines legal status of city mayor is analysed, and the international is studied in relation to these subjects. In the dissertation there are definite propositions concerning the improvement of the existing legislation in sphere of the legal of city mayor. Explored many problems of city mayor, his functions, jurisdiction, law guarantees of activity and legal responsibility.
