The thesis is devoted to the complex research of the life?maintenance contract. The problems of development of the institute of life?maintenance in Ukraine and its regulation in other countries are investigated. The legal nature of the life?maintenance contract and its elements are analyzed, and the main varieties of legal relationships in the life?maintenance are researched. Much attention is devoted to the investigation of the contents of the above mentioned agreement, the methods ensuring exercise of this contract and responsibility for violating its conditions are studied. The bases for cessation of the life?maintenance contract, including situations when this contract is (may be recognized) nugatory and its consequences are analyzed. A number of suggestions as to improvement of the legislation in force which regulates the institute of life?maintenance are formulated.
