Kravchenko Y. The artistic world of novels by S.I. Smyrnova-Sazonova.

The object is historical-literary process in Russia of 1870th. The aim is to define of an originality of the novels S.I. Smyrnova-Sazonova artistic world and its most essential characteristics. The methods are historical-functional, comparative-typological, biographic, elements of the gender analysis. The research work investigates the specific character of artistic world in the novels S.I. Smyrnova-Sazonova, a popular Russian writer of 1870-90th , whose creative and publicistic heritage and memoirs haven't been adequately evaluated by scholars. The artistic world of novels S.I. Smyrnova-Sazonova's novels ("Dot of Light", "The Salt of Earth", "The School District Curator", "Power of character", "Near the Quay") is investigated here through a consecutive analysis of its components: artistic characterology, time and space continuum, narrative discourse. The innovations introduced by S.I. Smyrnova is developing traditional fiction types in the 1870s ? the new human being emancipated female ? are determined. The connection between chronotopic features in the novels, the author's psyhologic conception and the conception of contemporaneity is established. The specific character of narration subjects (narrator, store-teller) functioning is analysed. Functions of irony as a stylistic dominant of the author's novels are distinguished.
