Tsaralunga I. Toponyms of Ukraine ending in -ани (-яни).

Ukrainian geographical names ending in -ани (-яни) of the X-XX centuries have been investigated in the dissertation. The origin and function of the -ани (-яни) suffix and the peculiarities of its development in the process of transforming from the Common name to the Place name have been clarified. According to the derivation stems origin and semantics the place names of the indicated model are classified into local-ethnic and deanthroponym names. Lexical-semantic and structural characteristics of the place names ending in -ани (-яни) made it possible to determine typical derivation stems of these names. Statistical, cartographical and chronological analysis of the area Ukrainian place names of this model belong to has been made.
