Essay

The objective of this study was to improve patient care for chronic prenatal hypoxia through evaluation of diagnostic and prognostic capacity of measurement of flow in uterine, fetal and umbilical cord vessels and elaboration of basic principles of monitoring of circulation in the maternal-placental-fetal functional system in order to decrease perinatal mortality. The study has shown that parameters of uterine, placental, umbilical cord and fetal flow are valuable for diagnosis and prognosis and add detail to information on fetal condition obtained from biophysical fetal profile. It has been determined that high peripheral vascular resistance is observed in fetal part of an immature placenta. New data on peculiarities of fetoplacental circulaton in fetal hypoxia and retardation have been obtained.
