On the basis of analysis of scientific literature, archive documents as well as normative and legal acts, the thesis studies the problems of establishment and constitutional development of Polish Republic (1918-1939). Socio-economic and political preconditions of adopting the Polish Constitution of 1921 have been revealed along with characterization of its basic principles, rights and freedoms of citizens as well as constitutional and legal status of the state of the state bodies. It has been proven that the April Constitution of 1935 completed the process of rebuilding the political of Poland and set up foundations for the totalitarian system, thus eliminating basic democratic principles.
