The thesis is devoted to the research of urgent theoretical and practical problems tied with the regulation of the production sharing agreements. The author of the thesis investigates civil law methods of regulation of public relations in the above mentioned sphere, analyzes the legal status of their participants; the essence and legal nature of the production sharing agreements, finds out the peculiarities of the production sharing agreements and their difference from such kinds of the civil law agreements as concessions, contract, joint activities. On this foundation the author gives his own definition of the concept of the production sharing agreement, its essential conditions, rights and responsibilities of the parties (sides).The author has made the conclusions and proposals on the improvement of legislative regulation arising in the sphere of search, geophysical prospecting and mining of minerals in accordance with the production sharing agreement.
