Dyakov O. Wetland restoration in the dyked areas (a case study of the polder situated between the Danube River and Kugurlui lake)

The object of investigation is wetlands. The aim of study is wetland restoration. Methodologically, a holistic approach, statistic analysis, and a mathematical (imitation) modeling have been used. Theoretically and practically, the results of the investigation consist in the possibility of selection of parameters of sluices for wetland restoration in polders. The novelty of the achieved results is working out and realisation of the imitation model of reestablishing of the key hydro-ecological processes and definition of the boundary and optimal hydrological conditions for wetland restoration. The results of the selection of parameters of sluices have been used by the South Ukrainian State Institute for Water Engineering. The achieved results can be used by design bureaus/institutes and the regional water management departments in Ukraine.
