The dissertation is devoted to study of peculiarities of interpretational activity of junior school students in field of music texts. Musical text represents an author's explication of personal, emotional experience and thoughts, transformed into musical material of a composition, reference nature of which is inflexional. Entirely-personal nature of interpretation has a history of its formation, which is expressed by ontogenetic peculiarities of understanding and interpretation of a musical composition. Present research has revealed child's psychological characteristics related to the level structure of musical text interpretation. The executed correlation analysis has detected the correlates of successfulness of a musical composition interpretation. As a result of development of a special procedure of training instruction of students, which is oriented on their readiness for interpretation of musical text, a number of psychological means, assimilation and use of which provide a notional level of interpretation are established.
