Essay

The research is concerned with miners of coal mines who suffered from acute carbon monoxide poisoning. The goal of research is to develop the actions on prevention of aftereffects of carbon monoxide poisoning of miners of coal mines on the basis of hygienic assessment of conditions and risk of intoxication and the influence of intoxication upon the victims. The research methods include hygienic, physiological, clinicobiological, valeological and statistical methods. The novelty of the research lies in the following: the research defines the peculiarities of formation of vegetative, psychophysiological and biochemical disorder of miners suffered from severe carbon monoxide poisoning; for the first time there has been proved the efficiency of alpha lipoic acid used in combination with hyperbaric oxygenation for complex rehabilitation of miners poisoned by carbon monoxide; the research defines the connection between the number of cases of acute carbon monoxide poisoning and the category of mines in regardto methane hazard, sudden outburst of coal and gas and increasing coal seam depth; it also defines seasonal rise in acute poisoning, during warm periods of a year. The results of the research: there has been developed a scheme of secondary prophylaxis of aftereffects of carbon monoxide poisoning of miners, which brings to a lower level of disability among the victims. The results of research have been implemented into the work of Donetsk Oblast Clinic for Occupational Diseases, in the training program of Ternopol State Medical University named after I.Y. Gorbachevskiy and Donetsk State Medical University named after M. Gorkiy. The field of knowledge is medicine (hygiene).
