Essay

The thesis deals with the investigation of the issue of sacral dramaturgy in R. Wagner's "Parsifal". The proposed concept is based on the comprehension of fundamentals of the composer's opera reform in terms of their reflection in the sacral text of the drama-mystery. To support this concept the issues connected with the peculiarities of a religious myth, ritual and symbol as well as certain key points of K. Yung's and S. Grof's submerged psychology are considered. A new viewpoint on the interpretation of the drama's musical characters, libretto structure, the principles of thematism, composition and time pattern is suggested. The understanding of dramaturgic peculiarities of R. Wagner's "Parsifal" mystery which are caused by the musical embodiment of the sacral story makes it possible to speak of the pioneering enhancement of the genre's potential.
