Slusareva O. “Epithets in Ukrainian ceremonial nuptial songs (struktural, semantic and functional aspects)”

Subject of research: the language of Ukrainian nuptial rite, the semantics and functional features of the epithets. Research objective: comprehensive analysis of the artistic attributes of nuptial rite songs, evaluation of semantic and functional characteristics of the epithet as a construction factor of the feature space of Ukrainian nuptial poetry in its myth-and-rite significance. Methods of research: philological, as well as intuitive-and-psychological (with reference to L.Bulakhovskyi), structural-and-semantic (along with the linguistic analysis as such and extralinguistic analysis of the ritualism) descriptive, contextual, comparative. The results, novelty consist in the following: for the first time in the native linguistics a complex analysis of Ukrainian nuptial songs epithetics has been conducted, the specifics of representation of Ukrainian marriage conceptual ideas in paradigms of folk songs epithets has been defined, the polyfunctionality of folk attributes has been represented in the view of mythological origins and historic transformations. Field of application: university courses of culturology, folkloristics, lexicology and stylistics of the Ukrainian language, special courses of the artistic speech stylistics and Ukrainian folklore poetics, as well as lexicography, i.e. compiling of dictionaries of various types, in particular definitive, linguo-encyclopedic ones, as well as these of verbal symbols and epithets.
