Essay

Study object is aqueous phase of black-flies, microsporidies and mermithids, the cattle. Study goal is to develop and implement scientifically justified system of cattle protection means from black-flies on the basis of studying their fauna, biological peculiarities, pathogenic role in the conditions of Western Polissya of Ukraine, as well as to define efficiency of medications applied to cattle suffering from simuliidotoxicosis and prevent massive attacks of black-flies. Study methods is entomological, phenological, epizootological, haematological, statistical and method of determination economic of effectiveness. Scientific novelty lies in that fact that new data about species composition and biological peculiarities of blood-sucking black-flies in Western Polissya of Ukraine were obtained. Five species of simuliides were identified, existence of which was not noticed before in the study area. New method of gathering black-flies under abdomen of the animal fixed in the lathe was suggested. Seasonal and daily dynamics of black-flies attacks on the cattle and ecological factors defining extensiveness of invasion were distinguished. New method was developed which helps forecast massive flight and attack of black-flies. Biological peculiarities of microsporidies and mermithids in population of aqueous phase of black-flies growth were studied. Broad spectrum of symptomatology and pathologoanatomic changes during spontaneous simuloiidotoxicosis of cattle was discovered. For the first time in Ukraine new methods of cattle treatment suffering from simuloiidotoxicosis were suggested, applying natriumthiosulfate, Kadykov's liquid, ascorbic acid compound with glucose, and calcium-chloride compound with calendula unguents or "Phytosept", as well as protection of cattle against black-flies attack applying insecticide buttox, neostomasanum and repellent medication "Phytorep". According to research outcomes scientifically justified system of cattle protection from black-flies was developed. Outcomes - declaration patent for the useful model "Phytotherapeutic repellent medication for prevention of cattle simuliotoxicosis "Phytorep" № 8282 U was obtained. Field of realization is veterinary medicine.
