Essay

The dissertation is devoted to the problems of diagnostics and endoscopy treatment of acute biliary pancreatitis. Results of complex assessment and treatment of 207 patients with acute biliary pancreatitis (ABP) have been analyzed. The role of microlithiasis and changes of the large duodenal papilla in etiopathogenesis of the disease have been determined. Diagnostic-therapy algorithm with the employment of radioendoscopy methods has been developed. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiography and sphincterotomy has been established expedient to perform within 48 hours from the onset of the disease in all cases of ABP. Endoscopic interventions past 48 hours proved to be indicated for patients with the disease symptoms of increasing intensity clinico-laboratory and ultrasonography manifestations of biliary hypertension, cholangitis, and signs of impacted papillary stone.
