The dissertation deals with the problem of the communicative competence formation in student editors during the vocational training. Elicited were the specificity and the structure of editors' communicative competence; the criteria for its diagnosing and its probable levels elucidated. The program for development of the communicative competence in student editors was elaborated; the system of practical tasks tested, which can be used in the instructional process.
