This dissertation thesis is based on investigation of 173 people and it aims to determine performance of the MCG indices of the atrial and ventricular exitation in apparently healthy people with negative exercise test and on abnormalitites on echocardiography and in patients with IHD with and without atrial fibrillation in different age groups. This work is also focused on estimation of diagnostic and prognostic significance of the MCG parameters. First part of investigation was performed to determine the age peculiarities of the MCG indices of atrial and ventricular excitation in healthy. We have established and evaluated age-specific reference values for several new and previously reported MCG parameters. The diagnostic value of different MCG- indices were determined via comparison of MCG indices in healthy to those in patients with IHD with and without atrial fibrillation (AF). Prognostic significance of MCG indices was established in prospectively followed healthy people who had incident IHD. We have determined MCG parameters in IHD patients most informative for evaluation left ventricular characteristics, prediction of AF paroxysms’ severity and efficacy of AF treatment. Study results demonstrated substantial correlation between MCG data and high-resolution ECG concerning homogeneity of atrial and ventricular excitation. Apparently healthy volunteers having late atrial and ventricular potentials were more likely to have worse homogeneity parameters. Furthermore, current study has shown sufficient accuracy of original MCG atrial and ventricular excitation parameters.
