This thesis work investigates a development of Ukrainian ballet theatre of end of 60th - 90th years of XX century on the grounds of analysis of creative work of its leader - art director and chief ballet-master of National opera of Ukraine, people's artist of Ukraine, T.G. Shevchenko National Award of Ukraine prizeman A.Shekera in context of achievement of national choreographic culture as its dominant and distinctive feature. In this thesis work are considered problems of choreography as constituent of Ukrainian theater culture in multi-vector connections with social-cultural and theatrical-artistic situation of the given period. I the thesis are analyzed essential peculiarities of creative work of A. Shekera in context of artistic search of ballet-master-directors of ballet theaters of Ukraine in aspect of historical development of Ukrainian choreographic culture. On the grounds of research of productions of A.Shekera are defined structures and forms of historical reality and development of Ukrainianchoreography as driving force of development, enrichment and renewal of the national choreographic culture. On the grounds of analysis of various in theme, genre and stylistic peculiarities ballet performances of A. Shekera become clear evolution processes of choreodrama style and approval of principles of dancing symphonism. Creative difficulties and contradictions of development of ballet-master-director art and his artistic achievements in the process of creation of national repertoire, innovative interpretations of ballet scores of foreign symphonists of XX cent. are also analyzed, problems of modern reading of Russian and World classical heritage.
