Essay

Selectivity of cloned T-type calcium channels (Са(v)3.1, Са(v)3.2 и Саv3.3) for divalents and monovalents were studied. We have revealed that at least two mechanisms underlie selective permeation of these channels for different cations: the specific effects of the passing ions on the channel's open probability or/and their different binding affinity inside the pore. We have made up some conclusions about the molecular structure and selectivity mechanisms of T-type calcium channels.
