Essay

The dissertation denotes the investigation of the genesis and functioning of artistic images in the Chinese poetry of T'ang period (618-907). The very nature and specific features of the artistic image in the esthetic system and literary mind of ancient China is also brought up. The nature of artistic image in Chinese literature and the peculiarities of Chinese poets' figurative thinking are revealed on the base of learning the T'ang poetry in the context of world-perception of ancient Chinese. The functioning of the tropes that play important role in the creating of artistic images in the T'ang poetry is analyzed mainly by means of contextual method of philological analysis. Metaphor, hyperbole, gradation, allegorісal introduction and other tropes are researched. The peculiarities of the depicting of the landscape and human feelings in the poetry of pre-T'ang period are also brought up. The peculiarities of the landscape poetry's development to the T'ang period inclusively are determined. The influence of the Taoist and Buddhist religious doctrines on the T'ang poetry is highlighted. The concept of space is also brought up. The evolution of the symbolic images of nature is traced back to the earliest times. Researching the artistic images' genesis the common and different features of the image forming are determined. Figurative connotations of the poetry denoting to the same timeframe are also investigated.
