It was shown that addition omega-3 PUFA both of marine origin and plant-derived to the animal diet within 4 weeks resulted in change of cell membrane fatty acid composition namely raising the level of omega-3 PUFA and reducing the level of omega-6 PUFA in membrane of myocardium. The main factors of higher resistance of the heart to pathological influence after membrane composition modification by omega-3 PUFA are following: 1) inhibition of oxidative and activation of antioxidative processes; 2) minimization of heart and vessels reactivity to adrenergic stimulation; 3) the release inhibition of AA and its metabolites leukotriens and tromboxanes; 4) positive changes in NO-system.
