The work is devoted to the study of the history of the Ukrainian language in A.Yu.Krymskyi's scientific conception. The main attention is given to the originality of methodology of scholar's investigations, to his views on the origin of the Eastern Slavic languages, to linguist's interpretation of vocalic and consonantal changes in Ukrainian, to A.Yu.Krymskyi's researches in the field of Morphology and Syntax of the Ukrainian language. By means of the historical and linguistic reconstruction A.Yu.Krymskyi's scientific activity is studied against the wide background of philological views of representatives of Historic and Comparative Linguistics who worked in the 70s of the 19th - 20-30s of the 20th centuries; A.Yu.Krymskyi's contribution to the development of Ukrainian Comparative Linguistics is also subject to analysis.
