The dissertation contains the result of theoretical and experimental research of formation of skills in independent student work by means of library technologies. It is substantiated the necessity of teaching students he bases of analytical and synthetic processing of information, possession of concrete knowledge and skills and use of traditional and electronic library information search systems. Implementation of the program “Bases of library information knowledge and work with information search systems” shows effectiveness of method which has been developed by the author.
