Hoy B. Architecture of Jewish theatres in Ukraine. Principles of typology and design.

The dissertation is devoted to the phenomenon of the architecture of the Jewish theatres architecture in Ukraine as a separate subject of research. The dissertation is discovering regularity of forming the network of these theatres in Ukraine and the main principles of their space construction, action organisation, types forming, their spatial organization structure and design principles. In the dissertation the chronology and the periodisation by origin of the Jewish theatres architecture development is proposed, also the main types of Jewish theatres are determined. Basing on the results of observation of about 50 theatrical buildings, halls, spaces, structures and edifices that were used, adapted, designed and built for Jewish drama groups in Ukrainian towns, the classification of these theatres is proposed by the author. Based on analysing the influences of socio-political, culture-aesthetic, demographic, economic and other factors on forming the network and the architecture of historical types ofJewish theatres, the optimum forms of Jewish theatres functioning in conditions of modern Ukraine are defined. There have also been worked out propositions about the Jewish theatrical network organisation and methodology principles of projection and design of new modern types of Jewish theatres in Ukraine.
